Our firm commitment to the vineyard source has led us to embark on a new adventure. Although our roots are in Rioja, our future is linked to historic designations of origin that represent our understanding of viticulture. We took over Bodegas Aura, D.O. Rueda just over a year ago.
Bodegas AURA is named after the luminous veil that covers the grapes at dusk, in the hours prior to their harvesting. The latest addition to our family of wines has completely renewed its image, with the night bird par excellence – the owl – playing a starring role, highlighting the nighttime harvest as one of the distinguishing features of this white wine from Rueda.
A new image for AURA Vendimia Nocturna
The redesign of our AURA Vendimia Nocturna wine was created in homage to the night. Our owl surveys the moonlit harvest with its bunch of grapes. Simpler and more sophisticated, Aura Vendimia Nocturna’s new image seeks to elevate the brand and create an iconic wine, in line with this wine’s increasing fame: the 2018 vintage of Aura Vendimia Nocturna was awarded a Bacchus Gold and scored 90 points in the 2020 Peñín Guide.
Aura Vendimia Nocturna: tasting notes
Winemaking. 100% Verdejo, from a selection of 15-year-old vines, picked at night at the peak moment of ripeness during September. A practice that seeks to preserve the quality of the grapes, avoiding harvesting during the high daytime temperatures.
Tasting note Bright lemon yellow with pale greenish tones, it is complex and fresh on the nose, with notes of tropical fruit such as pineapple and mango, as well as hints of white flowers and Verdejo’s characteristic notes of hay, typical of wines from D.O. Rueda. On the palate, the notes of hay and white flowers return. It is very long and balanced on the palate, with an enjoyable finish.
